Environmental Policy
Owner: Board of Directors
Applies to: All Integro activities, employees and delivery partners across UK operations and project sites.
Context: Retail shop-fit-out, refresh/refit, roll-out and strip-out.
1) Our commitment
Integro is committed to preventing pollution, complying with applicable environmental legislation and continually improving environmental performance across our projects and operations. We work to minimise environmental impacts from materials, energy, water, waste, logistics and site activities, and to support our clients’ sustainability goals.
2) Legal compliance & standards
We comply with all relevant UK law and guidance, including (as applicable): Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Duty of Care), Waste (England and Wales) Regulations, WEEE Regulations, Hazardous Waste requirements, Construction (Design and Management) Regulations, and local authority/site rules. We align our management system to the principles of ISO 14001 and promote the Considerate Constructors Scheme on applicable sites.
3) Practical priorities in shop-fit projects
- Sustainable design & materials: Prioritise durable, low-impact finishes; FSC/PEFC-certified timber; low-VOC paints/adhesives; recycled/recyclable materials; design for disassembly and reuse (kit-of-parts).
- Responsible procurement: Source from suppliers who meet our environmental and ethical standards; require chain-of-custody evidence for timber; verify CE/UKCA, RoHS and REACH compliance for relevant components.
- Energy & MEP efficiency: Specify efficient HVAC/M&E, LED lighting and controls; commission correctly and hand over clear O&M guidance to reduce in-use energy.
- Waste & circularity: Implement Site Waste Management Plans; segregate waste streams; prioritise reuse, take-back with manufacturers, and recycling (including WEEE for electricals). Keep duty-of-care transfer notes.
- Logistics & travel: Plan deliveries to minimise trips and idling; consolidate loads; prefer low-emission vehicles where possible; encourage public transport/carpool for site teams.
- Pollution prevention: Control noise, dust and run-off; secure fuels/chemicals; maintain spill-response kits; comply with NRMM and local restrictions.
- Water: Use water efficiently and prevent contamination of drains/watercourses.
- Biodiversity & neighbours: Respect site constraints, protect habitats where relevant, and communicate courteously with neighbours and centre management.
4) Roles & responsibilities
- Board/Leadership: set objectives, provide resources, review performance.
- Project Managers/Site Managers: plan works to minimise environmental impact; enforce segregation, documentation and compliance; brief subcontractors.
- All employees & subcontractors: follow site rules and this policy; report incidents/near misses immediately.
5) Suppliers & subcontractors
We expect partners to meet our environmental requirements. Contracts may include specific obligations (e.g., waste segregation, take-back schemes, use of certified timber). We may audit compliance and can suspend or terminate for serious breaches.
6) Training & awareness
Provide relevant environmental inductions/toolbox talks (waste sorting, spill control, WEEE handling, duty of care). Share lessons learned and good practice across projects.
7) Measurement & improvement
We will set annual objectives (e.g., waste diversion, certified timber usage, carbon and energy reductions), monitor performance via project reporting, and review results at Board level. A summary of progress will be published on https://www.integro.co.uk.
8) Communication & reporting
- This policy is available publicly on our website and to all workers on site.
- Environmental incidents, complaints or suggestions: info@integro.co.uk. We investigate and take corrective actions.
EcoVadis Silver: What it means
Integro has been awarded an EcoVadis Silver medal, an independent validation of our sustainability performance across the four EcoVadis themes:
Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment reviews our policies, the actions we take on live projects, and the results we can evidence (from waste segregation and WEEE compliance to responsible sourcing, anti-bribery controls, and supplier due-diligence). The rating is renewed annually, with a clear improvement plan that we track and report.
Why this matters for retailers and brands
- Faster onboarding, lower risk: We’re pre-validated against widely used ESG criteria, helping you clear vendor approvals and RFP compliance checks quickly.
- Proof not promises: Shareable documentation—policy set, registers, certifications (e.g., FSC/PEFC timber chain-of-custody), and site-level controls—gives your teams audit-ready assurance.
- Better project outcomes: Practical measures baked into delivery: low-VOC finishes, efficient M&E/LED, take-back schemes, WEEE recycling, Site Waste Management Plans, and accurate duty-of-care records.
- Responsible supply chain: Risk-based screening of subcontractors and manufacturers, modern-slavery and ethics checks, and contractual ESG clauses to protect your brand.
- Continuous improvement: Targets and actions are reviewed each year so performance keeps stepping up—not just for the medal, but for measurable impact on cost, quality and carbon.
