Rituals is a premium wellbeing and beauty brand blending home, body and spa experiences. The Oxford Street flagship is its first UK Mind Oasis, combining a high-impact retail space with a tranquil spa environment on one of the busiest shopping streets in Europe.
Brief: Strip out a former flagship unit, including demolition and removal of an existing ~200m² first floor, to create a double height store experience for wow factor and over 500m² of new customer-facing space. The scheme included a premium ground-floor retail area and a Mind Oasis spa, linked by a bespoke gold feature staircase, all delivered within tight central London constraints and a fixed Black Friday / Christmas trading window.
Our Approach
This project combined complex logistics, structural change and a hard deadline. We:
- Planned the structural works in detail, coordinating with landlord teams to safely remove the existing floor and create new openings and steelwork.
- Developed a logistics strategy to remove tonnes of spoil from Oxford Street with no dedicated loading bay, using timed movements and strict traffic management.
- Installed new steel structures, staircase supports and infills while coordinating services and finishes to avoid on-site clashes.
- Ran multiple workstreams in parallel under three project managers to keep pace and decision-making aligned across client, landlord and contractors.
- Took ownership of compliance and approvals from CDM and RAMS to Building Control, fire strategy and right-to-trade documentation.
Outcome:
Despite the constraints, the flagship and Mind Oasis opened in time for peak trading, with no unplanned shutdowns or post-handover remedial closures. Rituals gained a landmark Oxford Street presence that matches their global brand ambition, delivered through a tightly controlled programme rather than a rush to the finish line.
